LeRoy Keeney

February 22, 1927 — July 9, 2016

LeRoy Keeney, age 89, of Santa Anna, passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kathy Monroe, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Santa Anna, officiating. Interment will be in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

LeRoy Keeney was born February 22, 1927, in Coleman, Texas, a son of T. E. and Lillian Roberds Keeney. He grew up in Coleman County and attended school at Cross Roads. On September 20, 1947 he married Laura Dyer in Brownwood; she preceded him in death on September 17, 2011. LeRoy was a farmer and rancher all of his life. Although he was a Baptist, he was, most importantly, a good Christian man whose greatest desire and prayer was that his entire family would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. He was an honest, hard-working man of his word, with a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his three children, Melba Duke and husband John of Whitehouse, Roy Keeney of Coleman County, and Sharon Guthrie and husband Lane of Santa Anna; seven grandchildren, Will Duke and wife Rhonda of Austin, Kaylynn Lien and husband Brian of Tyler, Zane Keeney of Santa Anna, Kristen Donham and husband Glen of Santa Anna, Tom Guthrie and wife Briana of Goldthwaite, Aaron Guthrie of Argyle and Shala Olsen and husband Brandon of Cisco; twelve great-grandchildren, Trey Akin, Pride Walsh, Sierra Keeney, Branson Keeney, Carson Keeney, Alexis Donham, Adalee Donham, Avery Donham, Cason Guthrie, Mylee Guthrie, Savannah Olsen, and Declan Olsen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a grandson, Lee Keeney, two brothers, James F. and Richard E. Keeney and a sister, Ernestine Simmons.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Christian Worship Hour, P. O. Box 2002, Aberdeen, SD 57402, which is a Christian radio outreach program that was very dear to LeRoy Keeney.
