Lonnie Ray Leonard, 70, of Brownwood, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at a Brownwood nursing home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Lonnie Ray Leonard was born August 11, 1943 in Coleman, a son of Edward Leonard and Maggie Wells Leonard. He grew up and attended school in Coleman. He served in the United States Army. On February 28, 1975, Lonnie married Neilene Sue Webb in Coleman. Lonnie worked in the oil field and moved to Brownwood in 1998. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Leonard of Brownwood; one daughter, Stacy Harris of Stanton; one step-daughter, Serena Birdsong of Phoenix, Arizona, five grandsons, Greg Brannon of Brownwood, William Brannon of Coleman, Caleb Brannon of Coleman, Trey Harris of Stanton, Sid Sheffield of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, James Leonard of Brownwood, Carl Leonard and wife, Cheri, of Canyon; three sisters, Joy Gillespie and husband, Bob, of Clyde, Cathy Dutton and husband, Randall, of Brownwood, Carolyn McGee of Coleman and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lisa Brannon; two brothers, Alan Leonard and Murl Leonard; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Leonard, one brother-in-law, David McGee.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at the funeral home.
