Lucille Martin, age 85, of San Antonio, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at a hospice in San Antonio. Graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8 at the Valera Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Daniel Stovall, pastor of Concho Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Valera Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman, Texas.
She was born Wanda Lucille Calder on September 14, 1930 in Leaday, Texas, a daughter of Oliver R. Calder and Effie Rowlett Calder. She grew up in Leaday and graduated from Mozelle High School. She attended San Antonio College. On May 27, 1947 she married Allen Harris Martin in Voss and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1968. She moved to San Antonio in 1968 and owned and operated day care facilities in San Antonio and Devine for 35 years.
She is survived by her children, Blain Martin and wife Nancy of Devine, Regina O'Bryant and husband Kenny of San Antonio, and Rodney Martin and wife Patty of San Antonio; seven grandchildren, Jody Collier, Calder Martin, Matthew Stone, Cody Martin, Kacy Thornton, Caitlin Stone and Michael Stone; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tana Luann Martin on March 1, 2014.
Memorials may be made to any children's charity of the donor's choice.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am until 12 noon at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
