Margarito Hernandez

Margarito Hernandez, age 79, of Rockwood, passed away Friday, March 07, 2014, at his residence. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Alonzo Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockwood Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.

Margarito was born June 9, 1934 in Obayos, Coahuila, Mexico, a son of Monico Hernandez and Leonides Gonzales Hernandez. He grew up in Mexico where he attended school. In 1966 he married Angelica Aguirre in Stephenville. He was a ranch hand for the Carter Ranch near Rising Star and the Wise Ranch near Rockwood. He became a naturalized citizen in 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Angelica (Angie) Hernandez of Rockwood; two sons, Alonzo Hilton Hernandez and wife Alisa of Santa Anna and Phillip Sidney Hernandez and wife Kristi of Santa Anna; two sisters, Victoria Leija of San Antonio and Catalina DeLeon of Obayos, Coahuila, Mexico; eight grandchildren, Korynne Hernandez, Remington Hernandez, Kourtnie Daun Hall, Krysta Hernandez, Katy Loeffler, Kylee Hernandez, Alex Hernandez, Kayli Hernandez; two great-grandchildren, Brailee Dawn Hall and Jase Hall; mother-in-law, Petra Aguirre of Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Ricardo (Ricky) Hernandez and Vicky Hernandez; brother, Joaquin Hernandez; his father-in-law, Hilario Aguirre.

The family encourages memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
