Marie Kennedy

Marie Kennedy, 84, of Coleman, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at Coleman Healthcare Center. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Valera Cemetery Pavilion with Lee Bridgeman officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Artie Marie Traylor on August 16, 1929 in Coleman, the daughter of Lee Traylor and O'Letha Kelley Traylor. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. She married Aubrey Gwen Maedgen. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1974. Marie later married A.W. "Bill" Kennedy on August 11, 1979. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1990. Marie was the Postmaster at Valera for 40 years and a member of First United Methodist Church in Valera and First United Methodist Church in Coleman.

She is survived by three sons, Donny Maedgen of Las Vegas, Gary Maedgen of Houston, Alan Maedgen of Dallas; one grandson, Dustin Maedgen of Austin and one sister, Bonnie Moore of Coleman.

Marie was also preceded in death by an infant daughter and several brothers and sisters.

Family visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
