Marie Stevens

Marie Stevens passed away on December 12, 2013, surrounded by her family. Graveside funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Marie was born on August 19, 1920 in Coleman, Texas to Charles Oudes and Ida Jewel Morgan. She was the oldest of three children, with a brother C.O. passing away in 1966 and her beloved sister Madie preceding her in death on August 2, 2013. On October 28, 1946, she married Clifford Stevens and they enjoyed 67 wonderful years of marriage. Marie was a lifelong member of the Elm Street Church of Christ.

Marie is survived by her husband, Clifford of Coleman; two sons, Alan, and his wife Nancy of Flower Mound, Texas, and Robert and his wife Leslie, soon to be residents of Coleman after a career with Texas A&M in College Station. In addition, there are five grandchildren, Dana, Jennifer, and her husband Matt, Katherine, Matthew, and Nick. Two wonderful great grandkids, Alex and Maddie, who enjoyed entertaining their great-grand parents.

Marie was also blessed with many other members of her extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends from Coleman and the surrounding areas. The family would also like to thank her caregiver in her final days, Sandra McWhirter.

Family visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
