Marlie Ray Watson

Marlie Watson, 68, of Coleman, died Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. A graveside funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Don Harmes officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Marlie Watson was born September 3, 1946 in Coleman to J.C. Watson and Jo Ann Beal Watson. He grew up and attended school in Coleman. On May 24, 1969, he married Rebecca Smith in Coleman. He worked in the oil field for many years. For the last 15 years, he has been the Maintenance Supervisor at Hords Creek Lake. Marlie has served as Director of the Coleman Rodeo Association, President of the Coleman Junior Rodeo Association and for the past 20 years has helped the Lion's Club during their annual youth hunt at Hords Creek Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Watson of Coleman; one daughter, Marla Foster and husband, David, of Eastland; one sister Kay McKinley of Coleman; one brother, Mike Meyers of Mission; three sisters-in-law, Connie Driskell and husband, Gary, of Coleman, Cathy Pickett of Coleman, Penny Foster and husband, Kyle, of Cross Plains; three grandchildren, Skye Hosch, Brynna Foster, and Landri Foster, all of Eastland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Morris McDonald and Johnny Watson.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.

Memorial donations may be made to the Coleman Rodeo Association or the American Heart Association.
