Martha Lou Elder

Martha Lou Elder, age 95, of Midland, died Thursday, September 23, 2021, at her residence in Midland.  A private graveside service was held in Coleman City Cemetery in Coleman, Texas, on Wednesday, September 29, where she was laid to rest on her family plot.  Services were entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

Martha Lou Elder was born on November 2, 1925 in Coleman, Texas, a daughter of Carl Wilbert Elder and Tennie Nashville Dyer Elder. She grew up in Coleman with her sister, Mary, and brother, Carl.  She graduated from Coleman High School in the Class of 1943 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas.

Martha was one of the last of the "greatest generation" who grew up during the hardships of the Great Depression and came of age during World War II.  She lived a full and fruitful life and was beloved by her family and friends.  She lived in Midland for many years and was an office manager for several oil and gas companies, including Robert D. Fitting and Associates Oil and Gas Consulting, Pearson Seibert Oil Company of California and Sharidge, Inc.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Midland.  She was a Christian who extended kindness to everyone she met and made many friends along the way. She fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Tennie Elder, her brother, Carl "Buddy" Elder, and her sister, Mary K. Bailey.

She is survived by two cousins, Louann Sartor of Dallas and Tressa Prater of North Carolina and dedicated friends, Mr. and Mrs. William Branson of Midland.
