Mary Teresa Horton

Mary Teresa Horton, 63, of Brownwood died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Pastor Jerry Chastain officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Mary Teresa St. Clair on August 10, 1950 in Tyler, Smith County, Texas to Mae Evelyn Shelton St. Clair and the late Robert Page St. Clair. She grew up in Arlington and attended school there. She worked as an upholsterer for many years. She reupholstered furniture, installed upholstery in modular ambulances and in other vehicles.

After moving to Coleman, she worked at Allsup's as an Assistant Manager. She married George Allen Horton on August 10, 1994 in Coleman. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2003. She loved plants and could make any plant grow. She was a member of the Coleman County Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Hamill of Brownwood; one son, Clifton Paige Brazier of Keene; her mother, Evelyn St. Clair of Arlington; four brothers and sisters, Robert St. Clair and wife, Kim, of Abilene, Christopher St. Clair and wife, Sandi, of Waxahachie, Evelyn Blanton of Alvarado, Mary Nell Ryan of Warr Acres, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Bradley Jenkins of Brownwood, Shane Gober Hamill of Brownwood; Ashton Brazier of Keene; one great-grandson, Soren Jenkins of Brownwood and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Page St. Clair; her first husband, Jimmy Don Blanton; her second husband, George Horton; one son, Michael Jo Blanton and four brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Coleman County Seventh Day Adventist Church, P. O. Box 279, Santa Anna, Texas 76878.

Family visitation will be Monday, January 6, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
