Mary Alice DuBois Williams was born in Coleman, Texas on September 18, 1935 to Ira C. “Chubby” Dubois and Jo Carroll “Granny” DuBois. She graduated from Coleman High School in 1954. She went to Abilene Christian College (now University) for one year and then married Donald Ross Williams, the love of her life, in 1955. She was a proud member of the Elm Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Donald Ross Williams and three daughters, Donna Harris, Debbie Ivy and Leann Bernard. Donna is married to Mike Harris and Debbie is married to Rodney Ivy. Grandchildren include Jerry White and his wife Skylar, Steve White and his wife Ashley, Jennifer Halfmann and her husband, Josh, Allicyn Ivy Evans and her husband Ted, Lindsay Ivy Reid and her husband Glynn, and Keslie Savage and her husband Tim. Great grandchildren include Sydney White, Chloe White, Payton Halfmann, Trey Halfmann, Rosie Evans, Emmylou Evans, Sloane White, and Everett White.
She was an accomplished pianist and loved to play hymns and popular songs. Everyone loved to sit around the piano and listen to her play. Her favorite expression was that she was “blessed beyond measure.” She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She prayed for them to be safe, healthy, and happy.
She truly believed in the power of prayer. As one example of this, she always had her “Pray for Rosie” bracelet and prayed for her great granddaughter Rosie. That prayer was answered, and she continued to spread the message of the power of prayer through Rosie’s story.
Her spiritual gift was the gift of encouragement. She lived a life of serving and uplifting others through meals, visits, and conversations. She even continued these acts of service while she was in the nursing home. Even though she had her own struggles, she still found a way to uplift and encourage those around her.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 2, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
