Mary "Chita" (Sanchez) DeLeon

Mary “Chita” DeLeon, age 81, of Santa Anna, died Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Coleman County Medical Center.

Recital of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2020 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 303 East College Avenue, in Coleman.  Interment will follow at the Santa Anna Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Mary Sanchez on January 29, 1939 in Mexico to Dionico Sanchez and Dolores Torres Sanchez.  Mary came to Coleman County in 1960 and married Thomas F. DeLeon on October 1, 1960 in Coleman.  They made their home in Santa Anna where Mary owned and operated Mary’s Beauty Shop for many years.  Mary was a devout and faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Guadalupanas, served as a eucharist minister, and was a frequent reader from the lectern during Mass.  She enjoyed sewing, yardwork, visiting the sick, and checking on the elderly.  Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took care of her family until she died.  She had a beautiful spirit that served her Lord and family.  Mary will be missed.

Mary is joined in heaven by her parents, Dionico and Dolores Sanchez; her husband, Thomas DeLeon; her grandsons, Dalton DeLeon and infant grandson, Joseph Samuel DeLeon; and her brother, Alfonso Sanchez.

She is survived by her children, Ernest DeLeon of Santa Anna, Tommy DeLeon, Jr. and wife Deborah of Santa Anna, Chris DeLeon and wife Cathy of Santa Anna, Alice Buzzard and husband Rusty of Santa Anna, and Adel Hunter and husband Duwayne of Coleman; her grandchildren, Angel Stepankiw and husband Greg, Kassandra DeLeon, Kaylee DeLeon, Ashley Gonzalez and husband Jeremy, Shelbie Carson and husband Jacob, Austin Buzzard and wife Jenny, Bronson Buzzard and wife Jaylon, Colton Buzzard and wife Alicia, Dylan Bartell and husband Britt, Brady Hunter and wife Jennifer, Mercedes Taylor, Darrian Hunter, Denver Hunter, Dayden Hunter, Rich Mendoza, Melissa Mendoza, and Ashley Mendoza; 14 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Victor Sanchez and wife Jane of Coleman, Rudy Sanchez of Coleman, Aurelia Rosales and husband Robert of Coleman, Linda Nunez and husband Ray of Coleman, and Dolores Mendoza of Coleman.
