Michael James Lobstein

Michael James “Mike” Lobstein, born May 20, 1958, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will forever be cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Ruth Maxine Smith Lobstein, James William Lobstein, and half-sister, Margie Turner.

Mike married the love of his life, Carla Jane Rambo, on September 16, 1978. Together, they built a life centered on family and unwavering devotion. Mike worked for the Coleman County Electric Cooperative from 1979 to 2016 where he made friends who became a part of his family. He worked at the Co-Op as a digger truck operator, staking tech, and meter supervisor for 36 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carla; his son, Brent; his daughter, Britni; his daughter-in-law, Jessica; and two treasured granddaughters, Blake and Brooke. He is also survived by half-sisters, Cherie Squires, and Sherrie Hamilton along with several cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Known affectionately as “Pops,” Mike was a man of boundless energy and generosity. Whether watching NASCAR races with his daughter, Britni, or ensuring the granddaughters had magical Christmases, he always went above and beyond for those he loved. He loved the Late Great Key City Truckers Club he was in for several years and spent many weekends with his son, Brent, and his good buddies admiring the cars and trucks. His infectious smile and laughter brought joy to everyone he encountered. To know Mike was to love him and he truly never met a stranger.

A devoted grandfather, Mike, played an active role in the lives of Blake and Brooke. From getting his nails painted to teaching them how to jump off the diving board or driving the mini hot rods he crafted for them, Pops created countless cherished memories with his girls. His presence in their lives was a gift they will carry forever.

Mike’s family ask that he be remembered not for how his life ended but for the way he lived- with kindness, humor, and an unshakable commitment to those he loved. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date to honor his memory in the way he would have wanted: with laughter, stories, and love.
