Monroe Bethke

February 22, 1928 — April 18, 2015

Monroe Bethke, 87, of San Antonio, passed on April 18, 2015 from complications of heart and Alzheimers Disease. Monroe was a banker and business man in Austin for many years. After retirement, he lived in Georgetown and Coleman before moving to San Antonio in 2007.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Virginia Wilson Straughan, four children, Dennis and Patricia Bethke, Debra Bethke, Donna Bethke, David and Marcy Bethke, two stepchildren, Marla and Jeff Frye, John and Enedelia Straughan, three sisters and one brother. He had many beloved grand and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, one sister.

Special thanks to the staff at Holiday Hill Nursing Home, special caregivers, Holly Norris, Irene Bee, Bonnie Thurwalker, Eugene Riojas and his suite mate at Allen Center, Mr. George McCoy and his family.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. May 29, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas.

Arrangements were made with Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.
