Morris Mayo

July 27, 1921 — June 17, 2015

Morris Mayo, 93, of Coleman died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating, assisted by Rev. David Jenkins. Burial will be in the Glen Cove Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Morris Mayo was born July 27, 1921 in Coleman to Lee Washington (L. W.) Mayo and Lillie Bera Lanham Mayo. He grew up and attended school in Glen Cove and Coleman. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. On January 15, 1943, he married Ottie Ruth Martin in Ballinger. Morris owned Mayo Supply from 1960 to 1983. He was also a rancher and a Deacon at Central Baptist Church for many years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a member of Concho Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ottie Ruth Mayo of Coleman; three sons, Severn Mayo of Voss, J.D. Mayo and wife, Margie, of Coleman, Michael Lee Mayo and wife, Sharon, of Coleman; eight grandchildren, Mark Mayo, Duane Mayo, Lance Mayo, Vikki Raincrow, Lori Cook, Mika Mayo, Ronnie Mayo, Amy Bledsoe; 14 great grandchildren, Caleb Mayo, Natalie Mayo, Madison Mayo, Beau Mayo, Blake Mayo, Dakota Raincrow, Christine Wilson, Drake York, Mikayla Mayo, Zeke Mayo, Kyle Mayo, Rick Mayo, Casey Bledsoe, Kensi Bledsoe; two great-great children, Faith Ann Forsythe, Brayden Forsythe; sister-in-law, Geraldine Monroe of Coleman and several step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fern Mayo and J. P. Mayo and a sister, Faye Mayo.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at Stevens Funeral Home.
