Nancy Jim McKinney

July 5, 1916 — May 2, 2015

Nancy Jim Golson McKinney, age 98, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Slaten, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Nancy Jim Golson on July 5, 1916 in Coleman, a daughter of James Wade Golson and Sarah Viola West Golson. She grew up in Coleman where she attended school and graduated from Coleman High School. On September 29, 1936, she married Everett E. McKinney in Coleman. Nancy grew up in the Methodist Church in Coleman. When she and Everett moved to Abilene in 1955, she was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church until returning to Coleman in 1970. Nancy was a member of the Chancel Choir and the Chapel Class at First United Methodist Church in Coleman. She was also a long-time member of the Mutual Improvement Club and served on the Coleman Library Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, on July 25, 1982.

Survivors include nephews and nieces, Dr. John McKinney and wife Patti of Pittsboro, Indiana, Ron Murray of Houston, Janie Bristol and husband Dr. Tom Bristol of Keiger, Oregon, Susan Ouellette and husband Jim of Dickinson, Dr. John Burgin and wife Sara of Austin, Alma Lee Dunham of Houston, Mike McKinney and wife Eunice of San Antonio, Mary Murray of Houston and Amy Nunnelly and husband Phillip of Helotes.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Bobbie Warren, and a niece, Sara Ann Branch.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 852, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
