Ottie Mayo, age 90, of Coleman, passed away at her residence on Friday, January 22, 2016. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Cove Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Ottie Ruth Martin on December 13, 1925, in May, Texas, a daughter of William Owen Martin and Ruth Magdalene Pyron Martin. At the age of nine, she moved with her family to Coleman County and attended school in Glen Cove and Talpa. On January 15, 1943 she married Morris Mayo in Ballinger and he preceded her in death on June 17, 2015. Ottie was a homemaker and loved to knit and crochet. She made many blankets for newborn babies. She was a member of Concho Baptist Church and previously was a member at Central Baptist Church for many years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Severn Mayo of Voss, J. D. Mayo and wife Margie of Coleman, and Michael Lee Mayo and wife Sharon of Coleman; eight grandchildren, Duane Mayo, Mark Mayo, Lance Mayo, Vikki Raincrow, Lori Cook, Mika Mayo, Ronnie Mayo and Amy Bledsoe; fourteen great-grandchildren, Caleb Mayo, Natalie Mayo, Madison Mayo, Beau Mayo, Blake Mayo, Dakota Raincrow, Christine Forsyth, Drake York, Mikayla Mayo, Zeke Mayo, Kyle Mayo, Rick Mayo, Casey Bledsoe and Kensi Bledsoe; four great-great grandchildren, Riley Mayo, Cason Ray, Faith Forsyth and Braydn Forsyth; two step-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Monroe of Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters and brothers, Marguerite Curtis, Olene Boyd, Bill Mayfield, Floyd Martin and Owen Martin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 25, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
