Raymond F. DeLeon

Raymond F. DeLeon, 87, of Santa Anna, died Friday, December 4, 2020 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  Recital of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Laurent Mvondo officiating.  Burial will be in the Santa Anna Cemetery.  The Rosary Service and Funeral Mass will be live-streamed at www.livingmemorials.com/obituary/Raymond-DeLeon.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

He was born Raymond Frausto DeLeon on December 18, 1932 in Santa Anna to Nestor DeLeon and Antonia Frausto DeLeon.  Raymond grew up in Santa Anna, where he attended school.  He proudly served his country, serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.  On May 22, 1952, Raymond married Ofelia Martinez in Coleman.  Raymond worked for Santa Fe Rail Road, Swift Meat Packing plant in Fort Worth and Kohler in Brownwood.

Raymond was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman.  He sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Crusillos and was very charismatic.  Raymond often helped strangers.  If they needed a ride, he took them.  If they needed a place to stay, he let them stay in his home.  He also helped people if they need paperwork filled out.  Raymond loved visiting with everybody, especially his grandchildren.  He enjoyed watching them play baseball and football.  His favorite teams are the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and the Santa Anna Mountaineers.

Raymond is joined in heaven by his parents, his wife, Ofelia, and nine brothers and sisters, Cruz DeLeon, Nestor DeLeon, Jr., Larry DeLeon, Alex DeLeon, Sr., Thomas DeLeon, Grace Perez, Elvira Felan, Anita Martinez and Herminia DeLeon.

He is survived by three children, Arthur DeLeon and wife, Susie, of Coleman, Albert DeLeon and wife, Maria, of Abilene, Dalia Alonzo and husband, Carmillo, of Santa Anna; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Adolf Martinez of Brownwood and a sister-in-law, Eloisa Jaramillo of Denver, Colorado.
