R.E. "Sie" Pyburn

R.E. “Sie” Pyburn, 92, of Voss, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Burial will be in the Voss Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

He was born Rufus Elton Pyburn on October 10, 1924 in Leaday to Rufus Harvey Pyburn and Julie Elizabeth Wilson Pyburn. He grew up in Leaday and attended the Red Wire School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On August 17, 1946, he married Margaret June Cordell in Sweetwater.

“Sie” was a life-long resident of Coleman County. He worked for the County of Coleman as an equipment operator, retiring after 30 years of service. He also farmed and ranched, was a member of the Voss Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Voss Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, June Pyburn of Voss, three sons, Charles Pyburn and wife, Frances, of Santa Anna, Bruce Pyburn and wife, Pauline of Flora Vista, New Mexico, Doyle Pyburn and wife, Weda, of Voss; one brother, C.D. “Red” Pyburn and wife, Janie, of Voss; seven grandchildren, Lana Gilder and husband, Doug, of Streetman, Shelby Gould and husband, Keith, of Tyler, Elizabeth Beard of Arlington, James Pyburn of Colorado, Wayne Pyburn and wife, Jesse, of Morrisville, Fisher Pyburn of Voss, Scarlett Pyburn of Voss; 12 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Finley.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home.
