Rev. W.C. (Wenceslao) Carrasco, 87, of Brady and former Coleman resident, died Thursday at a San Angelo hospital. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 1, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. Ruben Hernandez officiating and Bro. Don Draper giving the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Rev. Carrasco was born September 28, 1926 in Ciudad Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico to Epitacio Carrasco and Maria Cortez Carrasco. He grew up in Mexico and attended school there. At the age of 17, he came to the United States. On August 29, 1946, he married Helen Enriquez in Monahans. He graduated from Seminary at the Mexican Bible Institute of San Antonio, now called the Baptist University of the Americas.
Rev. Carrasco pastored at 11 different churches, including Premeria Iglesia Bautista in Coleman for 17 years and was pastoring at Iglesia Emanual Bautista in Brady at the time of his death. He exemplified the fruit of the Holy Spirit and was very giving of himself. He loved life, people and especially his family. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Convention for the last 54 years.
Survivors include three sons, Ernesto (Ernie) Carrasco of Garland, Ednoi (Ed) Carrasco of Brady, Eliseo (Ely) Carrasco of Tyler; one daughter, Esther Carrasco of San Antonio; four brothers and sisters, Severa Saenz of Mioqui, Chihuahua, Mexico, Celestino Carrasco of Odessa, Canuto Carrasco of Consuelo, Chihuahua, Mexico, Juanita Terrazas of Phoenix, Arizona; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, on December 29, 2001 and a sister, Librada Carrasco de Morales.
Family visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the funeral home.
