Rex Brooks, age 56, of Coleman, died Saturday, January 18, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Mike Sanchez, officiating. Interment will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
He was born Rex Dewayne Brooks on November 18, 1963 in Coleman to Raymond Edward Brooks, Jr. and Alice Jane Wilkins Brooks. Rex attended school in Coleman and was an oil field worker. He married Lee Ann McDonald on November 2, 1990 in Coleman. Rex loved to go fishing, loved woodworking, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a life-long resident of Coleman.
Rex is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alice Brooks; son, Rex Brooks, Jr.; sister, Patsy Hyden; and brother, Reggie Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Brooks of Coleman; one son, Zackary McDonald of Coleman; two daughters, Lauren Brooks of Abilene, Christy Brooks of Coleman; six sisters, Linda Kincaid and husband David of Brownwood, Alice Sanchez and husband Victor of Waco, Carolyn Sanchez and husband Robert of Waco, Peggy Graham and husband Red of Coleman, Christine Little of Abernathy, Sarah Villalpando and husband Bobby of Brownwood; nine grandchildren, Gavyn McDonald, Bronson Brooks, Bentlee Brooks, Wyatt Shubin, Kyle McDonald, Azelynn McDonald, Cynthia Watson, Melina Watson, Christopher Watson; two great-grandchildren, Lily Smith and Rylee Keaster .
Pallbearers will be Charles Brooks, Chris Brooks, Michael Bagley, Gary Bagley, Joshua New, and James New. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Owen and David Graham.
