Rick T. Burks

Rick Burks, age 33, of Redmond, Washington, died Friday, January 19, 2018. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Gagnon, Rick’s father-in-law, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman, Texas.

He was born Ricky Thomas Burks on September 2, 1984 in Abilene, Texas, the son of Rick Burks and Sandra Bohannon Burks. He grew up in Baird, Texas, where he graduated from Baird High School. He received a Bachelor Degree from McMurry University in Abilene and a Masters Degree in Human Factors Psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. While attending UHCL he was a member of Psi Chi National Honor Society. On April 12, 2008, he married Brittany Gagnon in Tuscola and they have three children. He worked for Hewlett-Packard in Houston for several years and co-authored several publications including professional articles in 2011 and 2014. In July 2016, Rick volunteered to participate in the Hewlett-Packard Give Back Day with Northwest Assistance Ministries in Houston. He had recently taken a position with Microsoft Corporation and moved, with his family, to Redmond, Washington.

He is survived by his wife, Brittany Burks and his three children, Hannah, Jonah and Eden Burks; his mother, Sandra Burks of Tuscola; his father, Rick Burks of Abilene; siblings, Coye Underwood of Abilene, Amy Kirkpatrick and husband Casey of Frisco, and Bill Henley of Abilene; nieces and nephews, Lorelai and Perrin Underwood, Kaden, Connor and Kaitlyn Kirkpatrick, and Asher and Charles Henley.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Dorothy Bohannon and Bob and Jane Burks.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
