Rodney Cole, Sr., age 67, of Talpa, died Monday, October 26, 2020 at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center.
He was born Rodney Allen Cole on August 6, 1953 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Clemmie Weldon Cole and Geraldine Blakey Cole. He grew up in River Oaks and graduated from Castleberry High School in 1971. Rodney followed in his father’s footsteps becoming a pawn broker. He owned and operated pawn shops in River Oaks, Fort Worth, and Coleman. He moved to Coleman County in 1993 and served three terms on the Coleman City Council. Rodney enjoyed trading guns, hunting, and fishing. He was a family man and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. Rodney absolutely loved and adored his grandchildren. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Coleman.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, T.C. Wages.
Rodney is survived by two sons, Rodney Allen Cole, II and wife Laci of Talpa, and Jackie-D Allen Cole of Colorado; his grandchildren, Peyton Cole, Brice Cole, Gracie Cole, Dyson Cole, Dallas Cole, Hayden Cole, and Andrew Cole; one brother, Clemmie Cole and wife Paula of Mineral Wells; and one sister, Martha King and husband John of Gainesville.
Memorials are suggested in memory of Rodney to the Panther Creek Livestock Association, 129 Private Road 3421, Valera, Texas 76884.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
