Ronald R. Stubblefield, 82, of Coleman, died Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. The family will host a memorial service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. To protect each other from CoVID-19 infection, we ask that you comply with the CDC social distancing guidelines as well as Governor Greg Abbott’s request that a face covering be utilized. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Ronald Roy Stubblefield was born April 11, 1938 in Fort Worth to Ralph Stubblefield and Ethel Lockhart Stubblefield. He grew up in Midland and Coleman, where he attended school. He graduated from Odessa Junior College with an Associates Degree, Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan with a Bachelors Degree and St. Thomas University in Miami with a Masters Degree. Ron served his country in the Army from 1959 to 1968 with the 101st Airborne, Army Reserves and the Army National Guard. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Ron moved to Miami and worked for the Miami-Dade County Police Force, now the City of Miami Police Department. He retired as a Police Captain.
Ron enjoyed visiting with his coffee drinking buddies and being a pilot. He was an avid reader and read anything that had to do with History and World War II.
Ron is survived by his six children, Ron Stubblefield of Coleman, Carmen Runyan of Coleman, Misa Stubblefield of Coleman, Ian Stubblefield of Coral Springs, Florida, Katya Stubblefield of Coral Springs, Florida and Zevon Stubblefield of Plantation, Florida. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials in Ron’s memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Wounded Warrior Project.
