Ronnie "Coonie" Donica

April 14, 1946 — September 10, 2014

Ronnie "Coonie" Donica, Sr., 68, of Coleman, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Coleman County Medical Center. Graveside funeral service with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Bangs Cemetery with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Coonie was born April 14, 1946 in San Angelo, the son of Floyd Donica and Flora Talley Donica. He grew up in Bangs and Coleman. He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1970 and the Army National Guard from 1974 to 1976. On February 4, 1988, he married Colleen Gilder in Coleman. Together, they owned and operated Coonie's BBQ in Coleman for 16 years. Coonie was also a welder, a Master Mason with Coleman Masonic Lodge #496 and a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, grandchildren, a brother, J.D. Canada and a sister, Joyce Morrison.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen, in 2003, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be Friday, September 12, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
