Rosa Lee Johnson Deason, age 78, of Rising Star, and former Coleman resident, died Friday, July 31, 2015 at an Abilene hospital. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
She was born Rosa Lee Johnson on August 27, 1936 in Coleman, Texas, a daughter of Amos Johnson and Rosa Belle Francis Johnson. She grew up in Coleman and attended school here. On February 11, 1963 she married Billy J. Deason in Odessa and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1973. Rosa lived in Odessa during her marriage and then lived in Coleman, Cross Plains and Rising Star. She had lived in Rising Star since 2000. She was a homemaker and had also worked at restaurants. She was Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Deason of Brownwood; one daughter, Linda Elkins of Granbury; three brothers, Hubert Johnson and wife Anita of Conroe, Roy Lee Johnson and wife Kathleen of Tyler and Claude Johnson and wife Kathy of Odessa; one sister, Virginia Gookin and husband Dennis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Robert Johnson, one sister, Ola Dee Jarvis; three sons, Michael, Gary and Billy Deason.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
