Ruby Marie McFarland, 86, of Coleman died Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street. Burial will follow, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Ruby Marie Thate on July 25, 1927 between Burkett and Cross Plains in Coleman County to George Paul Thate, Sr. and Jessie Lee Ashley Thate. She grew up in her early years in Burkett, before moving with her family to Coleman where she attended Coleman High School. She married Paul McFarland in 1961 in Coleman. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1974. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and did not mind helping then when called upon.

Survivors include one son, Terry Bagley and wife, Melissa, of Brownwood; two daughters, Rita Olinger and husband, Creston, of Coleman, Brenda Lambert and husband, Gary, of Lake Coleman; two sisters, Melba Salmons of Missouri, Alma Laird of Dallas; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and one sister.

Family visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
