Ruth Pearl Kent

Ruth Kent, age 99, of Bangs, formerly of Coleman, passed away Wednesday, November
20, 2013 at Senior Care Center in Brownwood.

She was born Ruth Pearl Scott on May 12, 1914 in Seminole, Oklahoma, a daughter of
Malcom Roe Scott and Ora Jane Combs Scott. Ruth married Clifford Kent on July 9,
1932 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She moved to Bangs in 1949 and then to Coleman in 1956.
Ruth later moved back to Bangs in 1989 where she resided to be closer to her family. Ruth
had various occupations in her life, but the most important role she played was being a
wife, mother, and homemaker. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bangs.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Kent; two brothers, George Wilson
Scott and Ottie Roe Scott; two sisters, Grace May Long and Ruby Hill; one son-in-law,
Tommy McDonald; and one grandchild, Russell McDonald.

Ruth is survived by four daughters, Ruth Margene Cox and husband Johnnie of
Brownwood, Shirley Ann Graves and husband Wilbourn of Fort Worth, Twana June
McDonald of Plano, and Sherry Katheryn Folkner and husband Bob of Lubbock; one son,
Clifford Terry Kent and wife Julie of Seminole, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-
grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews
including four that she helped raise.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Stevens Funeral
Home Chapel. Visitation for family and friends will follow after the services at Stevens
Funeral Home. A private interment will be at the Coleman City Cemetery. Pallbearers
will be David Kent Graves, Cameron Kent Graves, Jody Scott Kent, Kent Folkner, Cody
Folkner, Cole Coggins, Dustin Homer, and Renden Homer.

The family suggests memorials in memory of Ruth to the First Baptist Church in Bangs.
