Ruth Smith Lobstein, age 87, of Coleman, died Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Coleman County Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Ruth Maxine Smith on November 29, 1925 in Coleman, Texas, a daughter of Simon Windon Smith and Violet Audrey Graham Smith. She grew up and attended school in Coleman. On November 24, 1949 she married James William Lobstein in Coleman.
Ruth lived in Abilene for many years where she was a therapy technician for the Abilene State School (now Abilene State Supported Living Center) for 11 years. She returned to live in Coleman in 1992. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) of Coleman County Medical Center.
She is survived by a son, Michael James Lobstein and wife Carla of Coleman; two grandchildren, Brent Lobstein and wife Jessica of Abilene and Britni Lobstein of Coleman; one great granddaughter, Katherine Blake Lobstein of Lubbock; one brother, Jackie Smith of Santa Anna; one sister, Dorothy Musick of Abilene; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
