Sharon Leigh Patton Alexander, 69, of Early, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at a San Angelo hospital. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at New Beginnings Church of Brownwood, 1001 Belle Plain, Brownwood, with her brother, Rev. Kelly Crenshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.
She was born Sharon Leigh Patton on November 6, 1945 in Coleman, the daughter of Roy L. Patton and Maxine Houston Patton. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. She later attended business school in San Antonio. Sharon married Larry D. Rider in 1964 in Mexico. She later married Darrell Alexander. Sharon worked as an administrative assistant in San Antonio and moved to Early a few years ago. She loved singing karaoke and was a member of New Beginnings Church of Brownwood.
Survivors include her children, Rena Ogden of San Antonio, Jay Don Rider and wife, Christy, of Cushing, Oklahoma, Damon Alexander of San Antonio, Debra Isbel of San Antonio, Michael Alexander of San Antonio, Stacy Alexander of San Antonio; a brother, Kelly Crenshaw and wife, Donna, of Early; a sister, Mary Francis Goerke of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shanan Lawson of San Antonio, Taylor Ogden of San Antonio; a great grandchild, Andraya Ruiz of San Antonio; her step mother, Mary Patton of Mississippi and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Jere Lynn Dowell, Angie Vokt, Tracellen Kelly, and Caroline Sue Jackson of Coleman and Mary Lou Haffley of Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy L. Patton; her mother, Maxine Houston Patton Crenshaw; her husbands, Larry D. Rider in 1997, Darrell Alexander in May 2013; her brothers, Mickey Crenshaw, Eddie Crenshaw and her grandmother, Lorena H. (Graggy) Pepper.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
