Thomas N. Sharp, Jr

Thomas N. Sharp, Jr., age 74, of Coleman, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at Coleman Healthcare Center. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Tom was born on November 8, 1939, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, the son of Thomas N. Sharp, Sr. and Nellie Clark Sharp. He grew up in El Reno, Oklahoma where he graduated high school. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Tom was employed by the Rock Island Railroad and later was a steel fabricator

On October 9, 1987 he married Margaret Applin in San Angelo. Following their marriage, they lived in El Reno, Oklahoma, until moving to Coleman in October of 2007. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Coleman.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Sharp of Coleman; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sue Sharp of Yukon, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Larry Blevins of El Reno, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Loretta and husband Dennis Simons of Bangs and Crystal Bowden of Coleman; one sister, Erma Nell Kaye of Sparta, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Brandee Nichols of Houston, Ashley Flatt and husband Robert of Edmond, Oklahoma, Evan Riddle and Larissa Blevins both of El Reno, Oklahoma, Brandon Boweden, Brandi and husband Wes Jones all of Coleman, Trey and Kristen Simons of Austin, Joshua Simons of Bangs, Matthew Simons of Brownwood; three great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity or any Parkinson's organization.
