Tommy Wayne Dyer, 83, of Coleman, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service with Military Honors will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Tommy Wayne Dyer was born March 12, 1934 in Coleman to Frank L. Dyer and Myrtle Smith Dyer. He grew up in Coleman and attended schools in Rae, Echo and Crossroads. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, having been station at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Okinawa, Japan. He married Kay Owen on March 28, 1956 in Abilene. Tommy worked in the oil field and worked for the Coleman County Housing Authority. He loved fishing and hunting and talking with people at the coffee shops. He was a member of North Coleman Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Owen Dyer of Coleman; three children, Toby Dyer and wife, Joyce, of Clyde, Frankie Dyer Cook and husband, Lynn, of Grape Creek, Todd Dyer and wife, Lisa, of Coleman; five grandchildren, Faye Murrell and husband, Jason, of San Angelo, Brandi Dyer of Abilene, T.J. Dyer of Abilene, Michael Todd Dyer of Coleman, Christopher Floyd of San Angelo; three great grandchildren, Jakob Jones of San Angelo, Hannah Kay Jones of San Angelo, Haylea Murrell of San Angelo; one brother, Albert Lee Dyer of San Angelo; two sisters-in-law, Dixie Dyer of San Angelo, Linda Owen Howard of Brownwood; one brother-in-law, Donald Ray Owen of Tool; several nieces and nephews and may friends.
Besides his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Dyer Jackson, Laura Dyer Keeney; two brothers, Gerry Wendell Dyer and John Franklin Dyer.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Stevens Funeral Home.
