Velma Jo Fenton

Velma Jo Fenton, 86, of Coleman, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Mr. Rick Marshall officiating. Burial will be in the Gouldbusk Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Velma Jo Bryson on July 6, 1929 near Voss in Coleman County to "J.E." Ed Bryson and Katie Bell Norris Bryson. She grew up and attended school at Voss and graduated from Mozelle High School. She married Andy Fenton in 1977 in Coleman. He preceded her in death in 1989.

Mrs. Fenton worked for Jinwright Manufacturing in Coleman, then moved to Houston and worked at Foley's for a few years. She moved back to Coleman, where she worked at J.C. Penny and later, First Coleman National Bank, where she retired in 1991 as Vice President in the accounting department. Mrs. Fenton was a member of the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and was a very active member of First Baptist Church, where she volunteered her time in the church library.

Survivors include one son, Jesse Lee Moore of Coleman; one daughter, Cindi Moore Johnson of Midland; five grandchildren, Shannon Lee Mailum and Jamie Leigh Moore both of Charleston, South Carolina, Kallena Abalos of Midland, Rachel Johnson of Houston, Brian Johnson of Houston; five great grandchildren, Daniel Mailum and Penelope Mailum both of Charleston, South Carolina, Molly Abalos and Cain Abalos both of Midland, Austin Johnson of Houston and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and son-in-law, Larry Johnson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gouldbusk Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 15, Gouldbusk, Texas 76845.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home.
