Wayne Pennington, age 77, of Coleman, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Concho Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Wayne was born July 9, 1936 in Hermitage, Arkansas, a son of Roscoe and Charlestie Frazer Pennington. He grew up in Hermitage and graduated from Hermitage High School in 1954.
On February 18, 1955 he married Carol Isbell in Warren, Arkansas. Following their marriage, they lived in Hermitage before moving to New Mexico in 1960, first living in Hobbs and then Eunice. In 2007 they moved from Eunice to Coleman, Texas.
Wayne was a project co-ordinator for Cavaloz Energy, Inc. in New Mexico and continued to work for them until his death. While living in Eunice, he was a member of First Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School class. He was a long-time supporter of the Hobbs Halfway House. He was a member of Concho Baptist Church in Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Pennington of Coleman; two daughters, Sherry Watts and husband Bob of Willis; Terrie Shahan and husband Ron of Lake Coleman; four grandchildren, Darrell Johnson and wife Melissa of Magnolia, Gary Johnson of Odessa, Brandi Hughes and husband Kenny of Eunice, N.M., Robin Anastasio and husband Chris of Midland; eight great-grandchildren, Brittany Walker, Kadin Hughes, Brayden Johnson, Carl Wayne Johnson, Alyssa Hughes, Dylan Johnson, Natalie Anastasio and Ashlyn Anastasio; one brother, James Austin Pennington and wife Donna of Hermitage, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Charlestie Pennington, and a brother, Jerry Pennington in 1975.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
