Willie Sanchez, age 70, life-long resident of Coleman, died Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Coleman County Medical Center.  There will be a come and go viewing open to the public from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, at Stevens Funeral Home.  The graveside service will be private.  In an effort to keep Willie's family and friends safe, we ask that his family's wishes for a private service be honored. The Sanchez family appreciates the outpouring of sympathy and prayers. The family will plan a celebration of life for Willie when it is safe to gather. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Willie Robert Sanchez was born on December 15, 1949 in Coleman, Texas, a son of Antonio Sanchez and Eva Jaramillo Sanchez.  He grew up in Coleman where he attended school and graduated in the Class of 1969.  While attending Coleman High School, Willie played defense for the Bluecats on the Varsity team.  He enjoyed playing and coaching softball and was also a Little League Coach for many years.   He worked as a House Parent for the Texas Youth Council facility in Brownwood for several years in the 1970’s and later in the 1980’s.  He was also employed in the oil field.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Alcala and Marie Espitia and husband Joe all of Fort Worth; three brothers, Joe Sanchez and wife Remy of Fort Worth, Jesse Sanchez of Fort Worth, Carlos Sanchez of San Angelo; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Esther Villalpando; two brothers, Tony Sanchez, Jr. and Bobby Sanchez.
