Wilma "Sissie" Saunders

Wilma (Sissie) McBride Saunders, age 93, of Coleman, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Daniel Harrell will officiate the service. Burial will be in the White Chapel Cemetery in Coleman County under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Wilma McBride on December 7, 1924 in Oplin, Texas to Walter P. McBride and Lydia Jones McBride. She attended school in Oplin, graduating in 1943. After graduation, Wilma worked as a telephone operator. She married Charles Austin Saunders on January 5, 1951 in Pasadena, Texas. Wilma later worked in the business office at the Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital where she retired after many faithful years of service. Wilma loved working in her yard, but most of all, she loved her family. She was a member of the Novice Church of Christ.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Austin Saunders on November 3, 1990; her parents; one brother, Clayberen McBride; and two sisters, Inez Gilmore and Deanie May.

She is survived by a special friend, Walter Lawrence Reid of Coleman; one son, Mac Saunders and wife Lavonna of Early; two daughters, Jerri Anne Chambers of Coleman and Zana Sims of Grapevine; six grandchildren, Staci Sellars and husband Brian, Travis Saunders and wife Ashley, Chris Chambers, Coleby Chambers, Jeremy Sims, and Joshua Sims and wife Bonnie; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials in memory of Wilma to the White Chapel Cemetery Association at P.O. Box 488, Coleman, Texas 76834.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until service time.
